"Living a Six figure life with a $30k salary"...hmmm, interesting.
I ran across this article which is basically about a guy who was a six figure guy, had everything and loved the nicer things in life. He suddenly went through some hardship as most people are now a days in this sagging economy. This guy basically made it a point to see if he can maintain his lifestyle or close to it (housing, cars, wardrobe...etc) but with considerably less of an income ($30K ?!?! emphasis on CONSIDERABLY). He aimed and conquered according to the article.
What he did was not a surprise to me but I think having your arm twisted is some good motivation. He used the vast information of the web to his advantage by shopping for homes on HUD, shopping for used but high class cars on craigslist, and shopped for nice clothes/watches at pawnshops and thrift stores. "A few of you may say there's no way you'd wear used clothing, but I say one trip to the cleaners, and they're as good as new." AGREED!
So this guy is living in a $200k house in a nice suburb with a Lexus parked in his garage, and wearing Armani jackets. Much Props! Moral of the story, a slumping economy can be used to your benefit (I was always intrigued by economics). People are trying to short sell everything of value just to have money on hand. It's an awesome concept but it may take some time to develop. The process of shopping around is even more tedious when the product is limited to only what's out on the market. Regardless, I'm big when it comes to saving money and think it is worth it!
