"Tebowing"

I was doing some leisure reading and came across this article, which was very interesting and I think the author did an excellent job of staying neutral and couldn't have said the more of the truth. It also touches on many topics, that I don't want to cover for the sake of not writing a book. For those of you that are not sports fanatics, Tim Tebow is a quarterback for the Denver Broncos recently recruited to the NFL and is known for wearing his Christian beliefs on his sleeve (or under his eyes) even in college. I'm a Christian myself and have no issues with him doing so. This is a free country and you can do as you please.

Incident: Opposing team sacked the QB (Tim Tebow) and the defender who made the play mocked Tebow by "Tebowing" as a celebration.
Tebowing: Tim Tebow usually gets down on one knee to thank God as his way of celebration.

A lot of fans, commentators are debating on the defender (Stephen Tulloch) making a mockery of Christianity. Me personally as a Christian, I think he didn't. In the heat of the moment and to celebrate he just mocked Tebow and not his religion. "Tulloch said he was mocking Tebowing, not God."

The article goes on to say why so many people hate Tebow which is another topic. He throws in whether its because he's so outward with his Christian beliefs, or maybe Tebow is too perfect and the people want to see him falter. I think this goes to say for any religion, "Tebow is proof that God goes comfortably into whatever arena of your life you wish to take Him."

There's going to be opposition out in the world especially when your standing alone for a cause. You make an easy target just for the shear fact of numbers. I give Tebow his "props" for being who he is. Religion is such a touchy subject in our time and that only makes it that much more difficult for a person to practice his/her faith openly (me included).

I hope Tebow continues to do what he does, there are not many of his type in the world today. The downside is that he will be under the microscope and as no one is perfect, if something questionable arises from his end, he'll have to answer to it.  Ultimately, it is up to each one of us on how to act. I think the last portion of the article summed it up best.

"The only one who looks good in all this — maybe too good for some — is Tebow.
I find it especially telling that Tebow rarely lectures and does not fight back. He did not create Tebowing, nor is he responsible for it blowing up hipster style. It was kind of cool, I thought, after hearing a kid had said he was “Tebowing” while getting chemo.
He is just a guy with the good sense to say thanks. Instead of taking his cue, we mock his faith.
And that says more about us, none of it good. "
